Introduction
Hello, I am MasterDrive (Xolityx on Tortuga and MasterDrive on Port Royale) and I would like share in my opinion the best way to start when you are new player. This guide is meant for new players who just started playing or returning players who wish to start a new life in Pirate King Online (PKO). In my other guide(https://piratekings.online/threads/...de-to-rebirth-and-beyond-by-masterdrive.7074/) I have omitted the early levels thinking they are unimportant, which in retrospect was bad idea. I have yet to see a good guide for starting from scratch. Before starting, please read the official guide because I will be referencing to it. It can be found on:
Also, I will be referencing to other guides throughout this guide, and I will include people responsible and their guides once more in the end credits.
Table of contents
1. Goals and process.
2. Class choice
3. Leveling from 1 to 15
4. Credits
1. Goals and process.
When starting from scratch the most important resource is money. Leveling using Hexa can give you level 60 in a day. When you have the best EQ in the mid game/late game you also level up quite a bit faster because of the extra stats. This guide was made to give you a very solid base to start your main character on. It is a guide for your first character but not for your main character. Earning a lot of money through various methods can be done on low levels which in turn gives you a solid financial base to buy the best EQ for your main character and level it up quickly. When first starting your main concern should be money and not levels. Leveling is easy but earning money is hard. It is easy to prioritize leveling over money-making(mistake that I made as well) but in truth money is more important from mid-game onward than leveling.
The goal you should keep in mind when starting is around 15 million gold. This should be enough to equip all classes with CA set (level 55) or unseals (levels 45, 55 and 65) and buy candies for Hexa (2 million worth of candies should be enough to get to lvl 60). Depends on a class but you should refer to a guide on your chosen class and what EQ is the best.
This guide is a grind and meant to solidify a base for new players. Most people start leveling like crazy without building a stable economic base which for some classes like Explorer/Voyager can be deadly because they need corals to level up. Many people find themselves in a blackhole when reaching mid-game because they do not have enough money to finance their characters and chest EQ is not really that good so they cannot level up (without good EQ leveling can take weeks on levels 50+ and is far bigger grind then getting 15 million on a level 20 character). At levels 55+ all EQ becomes expensive (everything is in millions of gold), and most cannot buy it. A full CA set is around 10 to 12 million and just farming items from monsters will not be enough to earn that much.
It can take weeks to get 15 million but once you get there you will know everything about manufacturing and what to buy or what to farm to get the most buck for time.
2. Class choice for new players
In this chapter I will be sharing with you in my opinion the best class for starting from scratch in PKO.
When you just start playing (level 1), you should start by choosing your class and distributing points accordingly to what that class needs. All of them are included on the official guide (stat distribution is also briefly spoken about). I will start at the top with what I think is the best class for new players. Under each sub-chapter I will include a link to the official guide where you can read about that class.
Important annotation!
Remember that this is not your main character but someone that you will use to earn money therefore start your new life with. You do not have to push for levels on this character. A mediocre EQ is more than enough so do not spend any money on it (Chest EQ is more than enough). Its purpose is to get you started on a new sever. If you can, create this character on a secondary account so you can use the trade system with your main character.
1.1 Hunter/Sharpshooter (ACC)
A class based on ACC and AGI. ACC gives you more DMG and AGI gives you faster attack speed. Both are necessary for this class to flourish but for a first character I recommend going full ACC so you can one shot oysters on level 20. Get an AGI pet to help with speed because you will need said pet for manufacturing anyway.
It is a ranged class, and it has quite a few good skills for farming (Windwalk for movement speed, skills that slow target etc.). That makes it the best starting class in the game with crusader being a close second.
1.2 Swordsman/Crusader (STR)
https://piratekings.online/guide/crusader.5735/
A class based on AGI and STR. For first character I put all stats into STR and not AGI because I want to kill Oysters without Illusion Slash (IS) on low levels. It is useless for farming because character needs to sit down to replenish Soul Points (SP). You will be slow but your DMG output will be better. Get an AGI pet to help with speed because you will need the pet for manufacturing anyway.
1.3 Explorer/Voyager, Swordsman/Champion, Herbalist/Seal master and Cleric
All 4 of them are bad classes when you want to start from scratch.
Explorer/Voyager requires a massive investment in the early stages because the class relies on Lighting Bolt to kill mobs making farming for items useless because of the investment into conches(at early stages of the game).
https://piratekings.online/guide/voyager.5736/
Swordsmaster/Champion is a tank, which means that on the earliest level it will take too long to farm. Also, it is annoying in the mid game and late game because you need to know what you are doing to utilize this class properly. It is a solid secondary main character though, once you know what you are doing.
https://piratekings.online/guide/champion.5836/
Herbalist/Seal master and Cleric is a bit better than Explorer/Voyager because the class uses SP only and does not require additional items in the early stages. It can not kill mobs with its auto attack quickly, so it makes it a bad starting class because you will need to sit down to replenish SP. Time investment that you will need to make is just too high to be profitable.

1.4 Conclusion of chapter 1
As you have probably already guessed I focused on the money-making aspect of starting a new character in PKO and that shows in the class choice. Like in most MMORPG’s money is more important than leveling. To get good EQ you need money. To level up faster you need money (Hexathlon) etc. Money is the king in PKO and not levels. If you have money you can level up quickly but when you are starting from nothing, you have no money and a hunter as a first character is the best for money making through manufacturing.
RRosa made a good guide about making money through manufacturing and it can be found here:
2. Leveling from 1 to 15
Use ALT + R to input coordinates and follow the golden arrow.
Levels 1 to 5
Do the introduction quests given by the Newbie Guide.
Levels 5 to 7
Step 1.
After choosing your first class it is time to start leveling. At first you will kill Mystic Shrubs. Those can be found everywhere just outside of Argent city. Remember to get 10 Elven fruit in this stage. As soon as you get 10 leave the area and go north. Do not sell Elven fruits they will be useful later.
Step 2.
Level up from level 5 to level 7 on Greedy Shrooms (2219, 2607). They are on the way to Bubble clams which will be your next target. Open the chest and equip your level 7 EQ.
Levels 7 to 10
Step 1.
Next you will need to go to the beach north of Argent City. You need to kill Bubble Clams (2166,2524) to get 5 Bubble clam meat. Save them for later. Stay here until level 9.
Step 1.1 Swordsman route
If you want to become a Swordsman go back to Argent and start the promotion quest at Newbie Guide. Step 2 and step 3 will provide everything necessary to finish it.
Step 2.
If you reached level 9 from killing clams you can go to Piglet(1959,2564). You need to save 3 Piglet tails for later use. You should be level 10 at the end of this stage. If you are still level 9, stay and kill few more to get to level 10.
Step 3.
Now go south to (1980,2699) and start killing Cuddly sheep. You need 3 Cashmere from them. If you choose to go for Swordsman route you will need 7 (4 for promotion).
Step 4.
Next on the list is going west of argent (1988, 2836) and start killing Sea Snails for Sea Snail meat (10) and Hard Shell (3).
Step 5.
Do not forget to visit the mine (1903,2791) to record a spawn point there. It will be useful later.
You should have those 6 items in your inventory, if not go back and farm what you are missing:
Elven Fruit – 10
Bubble clam meat – 5
Sea Snail meat – 10
Piglet tails – 3
Hard Shell - 3
Cashmere - 3 or 7 (4 for Swordsman promotion)
Step 6.
Do the promotion quest for your chosen class. Walkthroughs can be found here.
https://piratekings.online/guide/class-advancement.3468/
Level 10 to 15
Step 1.
Kill Bear cub just outside of Abandoned mine. Kill them until you are level 15 and sell everything but do not sell Blurry blueprints. Save all of them for later.
Step 2.
Now that you are level 15 and done with promotion go back to Argent’s Newbie Guide and start the “Secretary Message” quest. It is the first step for Story Quest that you will need to get Life experience points. If you followed all my steps correctly you will have all the necessary items to get 3 skills points from this quest (bar the King clam pearl). Do the quest until you get to Security Kal in Abandoned mine.
At this point you can buy three skills that you will need for starting your business, those are:
Oyster(973,399) in Deep Blue are the way to go. They drop quite a few items needed for manufacturing and most importantly they drop Blurry Blueprints which can be sold to other players for up to 1k each. Use the first stack of those to buy a level 0 pet (Fairy box). You will stay at Oysters with this character indefinitely.
At this point you should have read RRosa manufacturing guide but if not, then here it is again. It is your lifeline so read it.
Once you have enough money saved, make a main character that you deserve. I recommend making a Dark Swamp character(level 55) from your main character first so you can make some money there and the potential drops can save you a lot of money in the long run.

. I'm using this guide but it's a little outdated. It seems that you cannot farm Bubble clam meat or Piglet tails before taking the quest for them. It's probably the same with Sea Snail meat as it shows up in knowledge center as Quest Item. So don't try to farm those items before taking the quest.
