Currently when you click a tree, or other resource spot your character will walk up to it and start gathering/chopping. However, it's too far for auto pickup/auto loot to get everything that drops. So you have to manually click closer to the tree to walk very close to it, then click the tree so you auto pickup all the drops.
Is it possible to change the system so your character walks closer to it before chopping? That way auto loot will be able to actually gather all the drops.
