At the moment I'm typing this Port Royal is dead as fuck and it's getting worse every week. After the whole enemy guild quitted after a scam scandal there was only one high level guild left, which makes it hard to solve. On the one hand there are people who are simply playing for pk, on the other hand there are plenty of people who don't want to fight against their friends, with who they had some rough times fighting the enemy and a lot of fun. Either way, with or without pk we keep losing people on our server.
Myself, and a lot of other people with me, strongly believe we need pk to keep the server alive. But sadly there are barely people left to pk with or against.
As solution we tried to split our guild to force pk, but even if we split our guild it's always unbalanced. For example we got plenty of Brazilian and Malaysian people, which of course have become friends because they had the same time zone and no language barrier. So even if we split it will remain unbalanced (also knows as free farm) every maze depending on the timezone. Ofcourse u can easily say "just split timezones" but we tried that already too. This lead to emo people and ever a further drop in active members: u can't force people to log and pk their friends.

Conclusion: within the server its barely possible to solve the pk situation. But like I already said, pk is needed for a healthy server. No pk means no one will level to get stronger, no one will have motivation to farm to upgrade themselves and no pots will be used. With other words, the market is dry and nothing will be sold. A dead market makes new players run to Tortuga as well, since they have a chance to sell their pots and get new and better equipments.

In my opinion shards isn't a solution for this problem. Yes, shards will give pk but Tortuga is 100-120 people active in mazes like abba and bd, versus maybe 30 ( max ) at PR. This combined with the gem and level difference can be summarized shortly: PR will be crushed hard. And of course, when u get raped every maze without having a single chance more people will quit.

The last thing I want to point out is the current situation in Tortuga. Yes, there is pk but it's not even every maze and unstable. At the moment people are switching guilds trying to balance it et cetera, but this isn't a situation which can be hold for a long time.

Almost everyone who I spoke with is in favor of a merge.. so please developers listen to ur players and just merge our servers. If not, please for once inform ur players well and give us good counter arguments why u think it's a bad idea instead of just reacting short like always with something like "No won't happen".

Agreed to Gijs1.. PR server is getting dead. You can easily extract the data of active players, number of stallers, number of players with multiple client (same IP address), numbers of new people joined everyday, and number of people inactive in PR server

I started to play TOP when i was 15 years old
I played PKO again 5 years ago and I'm 25 years old that time.
I quitted again because this game is too time consuming and i have to keep my Real Life moving (career, marriage, kids, car, houses, investment)
I came back to play PR new server 1 and half month ago (I'm 30 years old now) because of country lockdown and I was getting bored at home, opened one of the PKO advertisement email blasting and decided to re-try the game.

I pretty much enjoy until recently PR started free farming and no PK.

But I think its all back to one major problem - We have not enough active players.
With already very less players and a few of the key players quit, the game is getting dead everyday, we are basically talking to no one in world chat.

In simple Marketing Theory, the traffic must be large enough to get good conversion.

For example.. 1,000,000 people viewed 90% of PKO video > 10,000 of them clicked into the website > 100 of them downloaded >10-20 of them stay active in the game and maybe 3-5 of them make it to High Level.

and I did some research on how the moderator / developer marketing this game. And it shocks me.

What action PKO team taken to attract more players?
1. Facebook Ads? No... I cant even access to PKO Facebook (This page is unavailable) https://www.facebook.com/pkingonline
2. Youtube Ads? No.. you can see the number of views is so poor https://www.youtube.com/c/PirateKingOnline
3. Other social media Ads? I really don't know, i cant find PKO active in any social media.
4. Email Blasting.. YES only email blasting to old subsribers.
5. Google Ads? i cant see any active google ads from PKO team in my country.

Instead of complaining, here's my suggestion

We already have a few great leaders to keep the game / guild / system in organize. But we can't really do something that out of our range. This need to be done by the PKO Team.

1. Understand your audience
- Who is the audience? (whoever played this during childhood... 25 age above)
- How they found out this game? (Social Media, email serve as retargeting !!!)
- What attracted them to play? (exploration, PK, mazes.. etc game features)
- Why they wanted to play this game? (Childhood Memories !!!!!!)
- Where are they from? (Which country? Brasil? Europe? US? Asia? Specific which country)
- When they wanted to play the game? (Sessional? During Summer break? During lockdown / quarantine time? During Work from home?)

2. RUN SOCIAL MEDIA ADS

Social Media is the cheapest method to get massive audiences !!!
- Facebook
- Instagram
- TikTok
- Youtube
- Twitch

Step 1 - Create a 2-3 mins PKO video
[video formula: first 3 sec HOOK > continue with calling out your Audience > 3 important info u can take away from PKO > Call to Action]
Step 2 - Create Video View Ads in FB & Instagram
Step 3 - Create another 15sec RETARGETING video or Image telling the audience why they MUST play PKO
Step 4 - Sit back and monitor the ads performance in Facebook Ads Manager.
Step 5 - Monitor your margin and conversion (What is your revenue received per players currently? IF your revenue per active players is $30, let's assume conversion is 10%, then each running ADS budget cannot exceed $3 per landing page / per traffic / per download...
Step 6 - Take step 5 as example, if ADS exceed $3, change creative / design / video / message until you get $3 per results !!

Keeps the players circulating, number of active players is like the BLOOD in our body.

3. Social Media EVENTS
- Invite multiple FB live streamers to LIVESTREAM PKO gaming, provide them with competitive resources !
- PK 1v1, many to many, LIVE STREAM in social media (Quarterly PK, show them you are serious in pushing this game out)
- Invite KOL / Influencer wearing costume in PKO and posting their cosplay in social media
- Rewards for staying active in PKO (daily rewards, log in rewards, weekly rewards, monthly rewards, comeback rewards)
- Function to allow players share their screenshot in social media (for more traffic exposure) when achievement completed.
- Referral function and reward for players that persuading their friend to join the game using link / application.


I can't believe i spend one whole hour to write this. Hope this issue can treated seriously.

It would be nice to know what the team is focusing on too as of now, apparently events are being recycled and the things that get updated are apps mostly (not that i hate it, i appreciate) and recent tidbits for the Lv 70 frames.

Feels abit of a disconnect that players dont really know what developers are working on too, would be nice if they share some thoughts after players in PR tried saving it to no avail xd.

Hopefully both issues get more attention and developer/team would be able to give their thoughts about it.
 
I think they can't do ads for legal issues. After all it's a private server not the official game owners IGG
that is not the issue, the issue is that ads cost money
 
Hardly doubt merge would do anything. Most people(level 85-) will leave. There are maybe 10 characters on PR that could potentially join PK on Tortuga. I am pretty sure I would stop playing completely if we did merge right now. While what is happening right now is not optimal, shards would just annoy people on Tortuga, and merge would just make more people leave the game. If you want to try how it will feel like if merge happens; take a level 60 char to CA and try having fun... Getting killed every few seconds is just boring. Free farming currently is really annoying but little can be done about it. What we need is more active players but with a dead market(I have a stall full of pots on PR that have barely sold any in 2 months.) and no PK, there is nothing that can be done about it. It is just in a downward spiral that will make more and more people leave. To appease HL people the hard cap could be taken off but I doubt that is a good solution. You will get a max of 15 players on level 90 while everyone else is hovering around level 75 to 80. You just create the same situation as what will happen if we merge. Level 90 vs 75 is an easy fight. Taking a hard cap off would just make more people leave. This is a situation that can't be solved and every solution I have read until now will just appease a very small percentage of the player base while making others leave. Shards could be a middle ground, just don't know how well that will go down with people on Tortuga.

Marketing could be a solution to it but not in the current state of the game. Getting new players or old players to return first and just allow time to heal the server would work better than anything else I have read on this topic. Problem is that devs need to find a way to make people stay and not play for few days and then drop the game... I know many new or returning players because I like plvling for free in my spare time. All of them quit after few days. They return for nostalgia but quit because low to mid-level is just absolutely boring. Maybe introduce low-level pk(up to levels 45, 55, and 65) wherein only refs and basic gems drop. FC situation on PR is just idiotic; 4 sea voys at the portal and free farming on land. The guild (that everyone probably knows on PR) gets pissed if someone gets past them and they can't free farm in FC so a land-based portal would make more sense. Make CA but only for people up to level 45 then 55 and 65. Make some content for new players to stay for and not level up to 55/60 and drop the game because it is absolutely boring for them and leveling gets hard past those levels. We are all talking about solutions for high-level people but what about newbies? With a CA that is level-based until a certain point, the newbies can learn how to PK and have some fun while the market will get moving again because they will need pots and eq as well. In all other games, you have a ranked system for this reason. No one wants to play against someone in the highest rank while being in mid ranks. You split players based on ranks for a reason. FC and DS are absolute shit for any new player. I could sometimes get past a blockade on FC if I am lucky as hell, what about new players who have no PK experience? Make a solution to make new and returning players stay first and then think about PK problem at HL. I have plvled around 30 new players in the past few months I have been playing and all of them left pretty much because it gets boring after a certain point. If they had something fun to do maybe they would decide to stay and we would have more players who wanted to play but could not get past that wall. How many of you would drop a game in minutes if you found it boring?

Your idea is interesting but impossible. First this pko is create from some old top players who felt nostalgia because game was closed. So the pko start like 8 people felt nostalgia get rite to video game and play alone. They create some company to get legal rites to video game ( it looks that is registered on Cyprus wich is tax paradice) and for that company nobody hear. After that couple more of player come. So my point is gm isn't someon who sits and as jobe do something about PKO, they are people who have different jobe. PKO is just fun projekt of them on witch they get some cash more. They have no time do deal with PKO that much ( u can see by events).
Second thing there no big company behind pko ( like I told up company that is invented nobody hear for it) so there no big capital behind it so if there gona be invest in pko and no success, company will have big lost and gm probably will lost his personal cash plus. And there no other game that can compense lost of invest in pko, like that that game has more suscess so it give company more cash.

If nobody go BD, someone will create 4 sharps and solo BD like happened in tortuga

We don't have any accounts in Cyprus. This is business is owned in USA , you might be confused with payment aggregator, they server multiple countries.

you had the best comment by far, and that's the point: i just made an account at tortuga server a week ago, i used to play tales of pirates 2 and missed the game, im lv 52 now (lvling alone, basicly) and almost quitting, whats the porpouse of playing totally alone? World/trade chat dead, everyone with stalls logged out and after days trying to find some brazilian player to pm (i'm from Brazil) i just surrendered.


There is no community or ''friendly'' zone for growing, getting stronger and eventually playing mazes/pk etc., any game will die in that situation. I don't even know (besides reading guides made on this forum) how to get money and get stronger. Not even dreaming on buying ''Rums'' in a game with that enviroment. The same strong players will forever play against themselves...seems amazing.
